Why Is Group Health Insurance Required?
A company gets its identity due to the hard work of the various employees that work in it. These employees put also their years of expertise and training into use making the company a success in every way possible and it becomes a moral responsibility for the company to take care of them in their time of need. The most important thing that every employee needs is a health insurance. For the employer, managing this differs according to the size of the company. For a small company comprising of a dozen employees, individual health insurance is also an option, but when hundreds and thousands of employees are in question, there is a definite need for a group health insurance. It is not only necessary, but also important to understand the significance of this type of insurance in order to get the best deal and to safeguard the interest of the employees in the best possible manner.
For a small company, comprising of a 100 people or so, there is the fully insured plan. This plan facilitates the employees of the organization with a complete health cover and all that the employer has to do is to pay the premiums on a monthly basis. In case the number of employees are in thousands, where paying for the insurance for all the employees would be a huge burden on the company itself, the company can provide the employees with a self funded health insurance plan and take care of all the claims itself without the inclusion of a third party. This method, removes the role of an insurance company completely.
Apart from this, for the employers who would prefer to provide their employees with a affordable health insurance than a full fledged one can provide them with health perks like ENT, accidents insurance etc. in which all medical expenditure pertaining to the provided perks would only be financed by the company. As this also forms a part and is included in the self insured health insurance plan, the employer can rightfully deduct a small amount from the employee's salary as the premium amount. This may not go well with some of the employees, but a major lot of them would understand its value.

Group health insurance can also make a part of the company in order to lure more and more employees from the other competitive firms. As all employees prefer to vouch for the best job offer available, there is nothing better than a full cover of their health with would not compel them to buy one themselves. These insurance come cheap in proportion to the number of employees that have to be insured and can be adopted to retain the best man power available.
A majority of the companies, whether big or small, facilitate their employees with this kind of insurance. Those who do not are always at the risk of losing their best men either due to medical reasons or competition. Running from the costs only proves to be more expensive in the long run.
